Tough Two’s

image

I wouldn’t call them terrible, but i’d for sure call the 2 stage tough, at least the male version of the 2 stage. If there is so much as a moment of quiet in our house I go on the search because I know it means trouble. Yesterday morning I took a potty break, changed into clothes for church, & came out to find this guy. He was so proud as if he had created a piece of art. He said he was a deer. A what?! So we had baths before church & barely made it. Today he & joss rubbed a whole tub of hydrocortisone on their legs, then after I wiped him down & sent him to the bathroom to wash up, he comes out soaking wet with shampoo bubbles all over him. And then there’s a shattered mason jar incedent. Now mind you, this is all before 7 am while I’m trying to get a bagel pick up finished by 8:30. Needless to say I turned to Curious George for some real help. I could use a break from the 2s. Thank the Lord he turns 3 soon. (I’m telling myself that’ll be easier.

Trip’s Trim

Trio got a new do for Jossi’s birthday weekend. And I always try to get family pics around each of the kids birthdays since they’re 6 months apart (the birthdays that is). As much as I lovr runninh my fingers through his sweet hair I can’t resist how sharp & boyish he looks after a fresh cut. Is it just me or does it look like his head expanded after the trim?

This morning we visited our friends the Moss family. They were so great to let us visit all their miniature animals and go for rides. We had a playdate with them last winter & what a difference 8 months makes! Everyone was more independent & really enjoyed feeding the alpacas, gathering eggs (although Trip was freaked out by the noisy roosters) & chasing kitties. Thank you guys for a great morning! We love you.

Buddies

Last night Elizabeth took all 3 girls to church while I stayed home with the boys, who desperately needed baths & an early bedtime. It was so cute how the boys suddenly bonded once the girls were out of the way! They usually do ok, some normal bickering, a smack with a golf club here & there. But last night they were the greatest of buddies. I just stood there watching their interaction. They seemed older & their age difference smaller.  They were watching Jer on the tractor & laughing & carrying on. So cute.

Going for a dip

Jessie & I took the kids over to Baldridge Park to check out the creek running through. They dipped their feet in & declared it cold so we all just stood around watching the water rush by. Suddenly we hear a huge splash & Trip is up to his chin in chilly river water! I lunge over to help him, he’s scrambling up on his own already, totally dazed & a surprised looking as we were. The water was only about a foot deep and maybe 2 feet across-so I don’t know how he git in so fast. He fell in again on his way out & was pretty worked up about that cold water. Luckily I had back up shorts & undies. So we changed him & kept on playing with him jabbering on about going swimming in the cold water. I don’t know if he was chasing a butterfly or if he got brave for a moment or what. But either way we got quite a laugh out of it!

Ps.
Luke says I should put up a disclaimer about why Trip is wearing my head band. Yesterday in Ouray he got so burned so today when I forgot his bandana I made him wear my headband so his ears & forhead wouldn’t get burned! Sorry he looks a little goofy-I think it’s cute!

Trouble

These kids, they are trouble! These shots are from friday night. We had friends over & the girls terrorized Trip. He came out and said, “Jossi did it!”

Trip becomes a man

Trip may resent me for this one day, but for now I can’t resist sharing the cutest buns in all the world! Trip has become a man and joined the world of the potty trained! Yay! After a horridly long week off snow days I was kicking myself for not having been more prepared to make the most of 5 days shut in my home. I can accomplish wonders with a 2 year old in 5 straight days at home! So before the next ice day hit, I stocked up. Big boy undies, a Cars big boy potty, flushable wipes, laundry detergent, lots of juice & m&m’s for bribery and rewarding. It took a few days before he caught on, but with some patients and lots of chocolate-we have succeeded! He didn’t have a single accident all day yesterday or today-and we even went to church yesterday in undies. And he is taking his naps in undies & staying dry. I’m so proud of him. It wasn’t even as bad as I was prepared for it to be. This morning he even “let out his poops” as Joss calls it on the big potty! We had quite the celebration as you can imagine. So, one more big check off the list! These pics were the morning I first put the undies on him. He was so ecstatic you could tell he felt so free! He was jumping up & down and dancing all around-it was by far the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while from the little man.
