Trip’s Trim

Trio got a new do for Jossi’s birthday weekend. And I always try to get family pics around each of the kids birthdays since they’re 6 months apart (the birthdays that is). As much as I lovr runninh my fingers through his sweet hair I can’t resist how sharp & boyish he looks after a fresh cut. Is it just me or does it look like his head expanded after the trim?

What a birthday present

Well, as I mentioned on the blog last friday Joss has had a fever off & on since that day. She never had any other significant symptoms, so I was just watching her & waiting it out to see if it would pass. She has been up & down all night most nights since we got home. No one else has beem getting sick from her. She’s told me a few times her back hurt and her eye hurt. But then she’d also say her boobie was hurting-just one of them. Needless to say it was hard to assess the situation. So last night we decided it was time to take her in. Poor girl, we got there & she’s clearly miserable. Come to find out her fever was a 105.5 on one side of her face & 106.1 on the other. I thought we were going to load back up & go straight to the hospital! So they gave her motrin (she was already on tylenol), dr. tom checked her out & she peed in a cup. She has blood, bacteria & high white blood cells in her urine. She looked great upon examination, so clearly it s a kidney infection. They gave her a shot of antibiotic, an rx for oral ab & she should be much better by morning. This isn’t quite the birthday we had planned for her, but I think she’ll bounce back fast. Dr. Tom said she is a tough one to look so good & functional with such a high fever. So we’ll keep you posted on her this weekend. We’d love your prayers for her quick recovery.

She insisted on trying to eat her corny dog & this is how I found her 5 minuted later. Looks like she got a few bites in before passing out!

Yes it’s true, records are being set daily here in Texas. Drought, heat, locust, frogs…ok maybe not frogs, but why not?! (There was even blood in the water at the pool today-some kid had a bloodt nose. Uck.)

We came home to one less turkey, the remaining turkey is nearly Trip’s size, ducks that can fly now, dead squash plants, huge tomato plants with no tomatoes, a forest of okra, a chance at some green beans 2 fresh eggs from the chickens and a dirty dog who helped himseld to a few new lounging holes. Oh summer on the dirt farm is a busy time. (the dirt farm is my new affectionate term for our homestead as the yard is now dried up to just dirt & sand burrs.)

Tonight

Jossi is feeling really poor tonight & has a 102 fever. So your prayers would be appreciated for quick healing & no one else getting, since we’ll be traveling on Sunday. Thank you! Xoxo.

This morning we went to play with some friends who live on & work their family’s sod farm. They took the end sprinkler off and had quite the set up for the kids. It gushed water out into this huge puddle in the super soft green grass. They all loved it even with a chilly water temp. It was so fun & we moms were able to just sit in the shade & visit. Brayden (red t shirt) is the sweetest little guy & was so great to share his toys & home with us. And baby Barrett was an angel and slept the whole 3 hours we were there.

This morning we visited our friends the Moss family. They were so great to let us visit all their miniature animals and go for rides. We had a playdate with them last winter & what a difference 8 months makes! Everyone was more independent & really enjoyed feeding the alpacas, gathering eggs (although Trip was freaked out by the noisy roosters) & chasing kitties. Thank you guys for a great morning! We love you.

Last night Elizabeth took all 3 girls to church while I stayed home with the boys, who desperately needed baths & an early bedtime. It was so cute how the boys suddenly bonded once the girls were out of the way! They usually do ok, some normal bickering, a smack with a golf club here & there. But last night they were the greatest of buddies. I just stood there watching their interaction. They seemed older & their age difference smaller.  They were watching Jer on the tractor & laughing & carrying on. So cute.
